Maharashtra makes RT-PCR test compulsory for domestic travellers due to new Omicron variant
The Maharashtra government, in order on November 30, has made it mandatory for intra-state travelers to be fully vaccinated or held a valid RT-PCR test and for travelers between countries to produce RT-PCR tests (48 hours), without exception.
Development came after the new Covid-19 variant, Omicron was detected in South Africa and stated "variants of concern" by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Order said.
Orders state that the steps are being carried out under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 "with direct effects".
