Maharashtra makes RT-PCR test compulsory for domestic travellers due to new Omicron variant

The Maharashtra government, in order on November 30, has made it mandatory for intra-state travelers to be fully vaccinated or held a valid RT-PCR test and for travelers between countries to produce RT-PCR tests (48 hours), without exception.

Development came after the new Covid-19 variant, Omicron was detected in South Africa and stated “variants of concern” by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Order said.

Orders state that the steps are being carried out under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 “with direct effects”.

Here are all the restrictions forced on air travel to Maharashtra:

For domestic travelers

– In terms of domestic air travel, passengers traveling in Maharashtra must be fully vaccinated or must take RT-PCR test within 48 hours after arrival.

– In the event of passengers from other Indian countries, the negative RT-PCR test within 48 hours of arrival will be compulsory without exception.

For international travelers

– All restrictions are implemented by the center on November 28 and future restrictions if anyone must act as “minimum restrictions will be applied”.

– All passengers coming from international flights must declare the details of the country visited in the last 15 days. For this, DCP and FRRRO immigration is to compile the Proforma Declaration.

Mumbai International Airport (MIAL) will share this proforma with all airlines and information provided to be crossed by immigration on arrival. The wrong info will submit to the relevant part under DMA, 2005.

International passengers who arrive from “risky” countries can be planned in priority, and the Mial and Airport Authority (AAI) will filter it in a separate counter.

This passenger must undergo an institutional quarantine of 7 days mandatory, and will undergo a RT-PCR test on the second day, fourth and seventh.

If found positively, passengers will shift to the hospital, and if all tests are negative, they must undergo 7 days further from the quarantine of the house.

– Other international passengers who come from non-“risky” countries must undergo RT-PCR testing that must be at the airport.

If it was found negative, they had to undergo 14 days of quarantine home, and if positive, they would shift to the hospital.

– For international passengers by connecting flights to other airports in India (without leaving the airport at all), the RT-PCR test at the airport in the first arrival at Maharashtra will be mandatory. They will be allowed to take a liaison flight only if the results are negative.

Information about the passengers will be forwarded by airlines that connect to the destination airport before taking off so that the destination airport can make arrangements to separate the passenger on arrival.

In terms of such passengers take a connecting flight to the airport in Maharashtra, they will experience the quarantine rules mentioned in the order of direct landing from international sources.
