This week has seen many arrivals and falls from the Netflix library throughout the world but the Nickelodeon Victorious series has one season removed from Netflix in the US on Monday, but why? Let’s look.
Nominated for four Emmys, D-Schneider Sitcom starred in Victoria Justice, Ariana Grande, Leon Thomas III, and Matt Bennett. The Nickelodeon Show ran for four seasons (although the last two were combined into third season) between March 2010 and February 2013.
The three seasons arrived at Netflix in the US as part of the many Nickelodeon licenses in November 2019. Now, exactly two years later, the show has seen the third season removed on November 1 but the first two are still available.
So what happened here? Officially, we do not know but we can speculate based on the general strategy of Viacombbs with Netflix in recent years.
In many cases, we have seen ViaComCBS use Netflix as a promotional tool for its own platform. This does this with only licenses show some whether it is only licensed a few seasons from Icarly or adding new student performances such as crime and unicorn in hopes of increasing their viewers before pulling one year later.
The theory here is that by removing seasons 3 wins, you are more likely to go and subscribe to Paramount + which, you guessed it, while flowing the third season.
Netflix international availability varies dramatically
Although not every Netflix region brings a victory, more than 20 regions are carried out in accordance with UNOG including people like Canada, England, Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
With that, what season availability is available in all places. While areas like Canada and Britain continue to bring the three regions, many only bring the first season consisting of 20 episodes.
This highlights the approach of ViaComcbs spread for licenses throughout the world and guides the question whether it would be better for Netflix to not carry shows at all rather than fragmented availability as it is now.
On the good side, you can watch more Victoria justice on Netflix this year with the release of 2021 films after the party in September.
