Over the past decade thanks to streaming services, TV convenience that often comes in comedy or comedy has increased popularity and has quickly left Netflix in the United States. Large shows like offices and friends have departed in recent years but the trend, at least for now, exclusively for the United States. Outside of the United States, Netflix is in the golden age of licensed sitcom.
Because many have been documented, over the past decade we seem to have entered the age of Comfort TV. It’s basically a TV that you can watch along the way but not only once or twice but continuously.
Netflix has made a large step in entering the room. Many quoted Bojack Horseman as their peak achievements by nodding to other titles such as sex education, farms, at least from Kimmy Schmidt but mostly, it is a licensed title from the 90s or 00s who get the most urgent time and watch.
With a quick increase in time and hence, the value, the original owner of this series has been very like to use and it often intended to attract a license for their own streaming services. The proliferation of competition in streaming is probably the most obvious in the US where there are more than 300 streaming services.
In the US, we saw Warner Brothers interesting their top performances by supporting HBO Max and we saw Comcast do the same with the office in 2021 even though there was a Netflix report offering a lot of money to store it.
Outside of the United States, while we expect to see signs that streaming war will be fragments and thinning content libraries such as what happened in the US, the opposite has occurred over the past few years.
In fact, we thought Netflix outside the US was in the “golden age of Comfort TV” with many of the biggest titles to bring the US library in recent years licensed to Netflix internationally.
What exactly lineup for outside the United States? Well for many people, it looks like Netflix is only a few years ago plus.
Here is the choice of the current UK Netflix lineup for some of the biggest commitments and comfort:
Young Sheldon
Big Bang’s theory
How did I meet your mother
Suitable
Brooklyn nine-nine
Office
Friends
Superstore.
Modern family.
Always bright in Philadelphia
Song
Rick and Morty.
South Park
Recreational park.
Champion
Almost
It was besides the US Netflix comedy series having such as Seinfeld, a new girl (although not long), the community, Schitt’s Creek, and others.
So why does Netflix get all this show licenses to them (often in recent years)? There are a number of theories.
First, it could be this maybe this heritage business is licensed internationally for useful cash injection. Many of the inheritance media companies injected billions into streaming services with many who do not expect to generate profits in a while.
Second, these companies can use Netflix to increase popularity which shows this thanks to the basis of Netflix customers that reach. When this shows popularity and then withdrawn in the end, customers may be more willing to jump over other services at all.
Because many will want to be shown, the largest situation comedy licensing to Netflix internationally will not last forever. Given the second point above, we can see this upper license shift from Netflix over the next decade.
Warner Brothers, for example, slowly launched HBO MAX throughout the world and has hinted that it would take back their licenses exclusively.
Comcast shows (like the office or Brooklyn nine-nine) can finally land on a new combined service that works with Viacombbs called Sky Showtime in Europe.
Either Way, for now, those outside the United States are fed well when it comes to TV Comfort popularizing Netflix in the US for the past 10 years.
