49 Dead, 300+ Injured After Massive Fire at Storage Facility in Bangladesh; Toll Likely to Rise
At least 49 people were killed and hundreds of people were injured after the fire triggered a large chemical explosion at the shipping container depot in Bangladesh, officials said on Sunday.
The toll road is expected to increase, with some than more than 300 people injured in serious conditions, officials said, while volunteers reported that there were more corpses in burning and full of ruins.
The fire began on Saturday at the Depot in Sitakunda, which kept around 4,000 containers, many of them were filled with clothes destined for Western retailers. This facility is about 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the South Chittagong Main Port.
