India has an agreement on friendship and strategic partnerships that need to be considered not only because of Ukraine but also for all Putin’s mistakes, said the Ukrainian Parliament Sviatoslav Yurash.
The Ukrainian Parliament Sviatoslav Yurash on Wednesday said India had to reconsider its position in Russia and punish the state for what Russian President Vladimir Putin had done for the past 20 years. “As far as India-Russia, you have an agreement on strategic friendship and partnership, I think it needs to be considered in light not only Ukraine but all the mistakes that the regime of Russian President Vladimir Putin has conducted over the past 20 years. Russia needs to be punished by India,” he said in An interview with Ani news agency.
“India is one of the countries that will decide on the fate of this century. As far as India’s position on Russian relations, be grateful for the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi made for our president. We thank the humanitarian steps that India has made,” said Sviatoslav Yurash.
India has taken a careful attitude to react to the Russian invasion to Ukraine because it remains in touch with the Government of Ukraine and Russia for the safe evacuation of the national stranded in Ukraine. PM Modi spoke to the President of Ukrainian Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin and appealed the cessation of violence immediately. However, it was abstained from resolution against Russia at the United Nations.
Russian envoys to India Denis Alipov recently said the current crisis in Ukraine will have consequences for the whole world, including for Russian-India relations, while at the same time, India has the opportunity to increase economic bond with Russia at a crucial moment.
