Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has been conceded in a local poll in a province, it has ruled for eight years, a sign of reduced popularity when voters struggle by soaring the price of goods and work losses.
The opposition parties have won 21 seats, while Khan Pakistan Tehreek-i-Casaf has secured six seats in a poll to choose the mayor and other regional government officials in the West Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province, according to Sohail Ahmad, spokesman for the Regional Election Commission . . Counting for 34 other seats is underway, but the results while showing a similar trend.
The Khan Party has won two provincial polls, and the election of the last local agency in the region. The final result will be announced on December 24 or newer.
“Losses in the local body election in the Fort PTI is a reflection of the decline in PTI’s support,” said Memooa Tanveer, head of upscale and high companies in Dawood Equities Ltd. “This is mainly due to economic conditions. High inflation and high unemployment.”
While the national election was only due in 2023, the losses in the party fortress came as the Khan government grapple with the highest inflation and the worst currency in Asia. It is also ready to raise taxes, including a gradual monthly increase in levies at gasoline prices, as pre-conditions to continue the $ 6 billion bailout program with an international monetary fund.
“The implementation of the IMF condition will make public public conditions worse,” added the Tanveer. “We see difficult days in front.”
Khan acknowledged that his party made a “mistake” but blamed the choice of candidates for the results. However, a local pastor for his party accepted that prices soared behind a bad selection show.
“We even lowered some good candidates in several places but they also could not win,” said Shaukat Ali Yousafzai. “There are still two years to go before the 2023 general election where we will prepare themselves.”
The Prime Minister’s party is currently trailing behind the largest opposition group in the country, led by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, according to the Fund Manager Survey and other investors with Karachi Securities Ltd. insight brokers.
About 46% of those surveyed expect the Pakistan-Nawaz Muslim League to form the next government. Only 31% hope Khan to secure the second term. About 19% said there was no clear winner, the coalition government would follow.
The current poll in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is just the first phase of local elections in the state. There is no date that has so far announced when half of other countries will go to voting.
