When the cinema throughout the world is reopened, one of the first films that became prime was Peter Rabbit 2 who might not come to Netflix in the US as the first. This is what we know about whether and when Peter Rabbit 2 will be on Netflix.
Will Gluck will return to direct the second film with most of the casts of original returns. James Corden, Elizabeth Debicki, Lennie James, Aimee Horne, Margot Robbie, and Rose Byrne all will have features.
At Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway, we will follow the married couple Thomas and Bee who live with Peter and rabbits. However, Peter quickly bored with new living arrangements and departed for a big city.
The film is available in theaters in most areas around the world at the end of May 2021 but the United States release was not until June 11, 2021.
As you know, the first film does come to Netflix (in the US and many other regions). After hitting the theater in January 2018, it will come to Netflix in August 2018 before leaving 18 months later.
Even though we could not measure exactly how well Peter Rabbit did at Netflix when streaming in the United States (the top 10 feature was added after the film departed), we knew it was performing well in areas like Australia and New Zealand.
Will Peter Rabbit 2 be on Netflix?
Now, this is where it becomes complicated. Unlike the first film, the second is set to be released by Columbia images and not the Sony Pictures animation. That could mean that it slid Netflix and go to Starz because Netflix currently only gets the first window rights to the Sony animation title.
We can only speculate why he was transferred (no one was officially said about this) but if it was excluded the case would not come to Netflix in the US. Netflix did have a new agreement with Sony for all films but it didn’t kick up to 2022.
If somehow it comes to Netflix through the first animated window, it will arrive at Netflix around December 2021.
Outside of the United States in countries like Australia, Canada, and England seem to get Sony films (of all types) in the second window. It should mean that these areas get Peter Rabbit 2 in the summer of 2023.
